Described as a dream home, Samphire is a brilliantly designed luxury home with an outdoor pool. Built in 1991, into the side of the hill, it overlooks a deeply wooded valley to rolling farmland beyond.
It is set above 10 acres of ancient woodland where a path lead to Crackington Haven.
The house looks as though it belongs to the landscape as old slates and local stone have been used for the roof and cladding.
Dry stonewalls line the driveway and the main entrance is at first floor level. You walk into a huge open plan kitchen, dining room and sitting room with a high-beamed vaulted ceiling. Dramatic green bisque radiators are splashed on the walls.
The sitting area has large deep sofas, a wealth of books and a television and video. French windows line the front of the house and lead to the balcony overlooking the spectacular views.
This is ideal for sunbathing or for eating your breakfast whilst watching the spectacular sunrise up over the valley.
Two bedrooms lead off from this area at either end separated by a closet for maximum privacy. One room has a double Victorian iron bed and en-suite shower with w.c. while the other room has a double and single Victorian iron bed and en-suite shower and bathroom with w.c.
Each room has large French windows ideal for lying in bed and studying the stars at night. The night’s sky is breathtaking here especially when there is a full moon.
Slate stairs lead to the leisure room where comfortable sofas and a television and French windows to the pool make this a pleasant room in which to relax.
Two bedrooms lead from here, one double with en-suite shower and w.c. with French windows looking onto a slated back courtyard, and the other en-suite room with a double and single Victorian iron bed with French windows overlooking the pool. Antique and modern furniture combine to make this an exceptional holiday home.

SETTING
It is wild and beautiful here three seaside farmhouse cottages set in ‘an area of outstanding natural beauty’. The farm, some of it National Trust, has three miles of spectacular rugged coastline, with cliffs rising to 720 feet - the highest in Cornwall, and hauntingly beautiful Strangles beach where Thomas Hardy walked with Emma.
A deep wooded valley winds its way from the cottages down to Crackington Haven, a great family beach with its deep pools and towering cliffs.
It is a wildlife haven with different environments: a steeply wooded valley, coastal heath land where feral goats and Moreland ponies roam, and inland farmland. The biodiversity is impressive: you will see Buzzards, Kestrels, owls, butterflies, badgers and deer especially if you go on one of Francis Crocker’s Conservation tours.
Stroll up the hill to sample Locally produced food at the award winning Trevigue restaurant but do book early. Three large exciting properties in a fabulous setting.
A peaceful and relaxing destination for a perfect holiday.
