A market town situated in North Cornwall dating back to the 14th century. The town�s early prosperity was largely due to the River Camel as many goods were transported by boat. the bridge across the river dates from 1460, has 17 arches and is 320� long. A new road bridge has recently opened by-passing the town.
Wadebridge has a good shopping centre, with many restaurants, tea rooms and pubs.
It now boasts an extensive sports centre including a swimming pool and squash courts.
Walking/Cycling
The Camel Trail - this very popular trail passes through Wadebridge. It runs a total distance of 17 miles from Padstow to Pooley�s Bridge. As it was once a railway line it is flat and has various refreshment breaks available on route. It has become the 3rd largest attraction in Cornwall. Cycle hire is available in Wadebridge.
Saints Way - The town is on the Saints Way, a 16 mile rural path between Padstow and Fowey dating from ancient times founded by Celtic Saints.
Beaches - numerous beaches within short drive. Rock is only a few miles. (see Rock entry) Nearest main resort is Padstow.
Royal Cornwall show - On the outskirts of Wadebridge, held early June. very popular especially with the farming community.
Fishing - Salmon fishing on the river Camel
