Cornwall College Newquay : Latest News: "Walkers from Newquay Zoo and Cornwall College Newquay raised money and awareness for the International ShellShock Campaign by undertaking an epic 100 mile trek from Paignton Zoo to Newquay Zoo.
Students and staff from Cornwall College Newquay and its partner Newquay Zoo undertook the long hike in aid of the International ShellShock Campaign to help save endangered tortoises and turtles.

Jo Prendergast an Education officer from Newquay Zoo who organised and went on the walk said 'My legs are only just holding me up but what an experience, I shall never forget it. The people we met on the way were absolutely fantastic. We had offers of tea as we passed houses, free accommodation each night, some great weather and of course more importantly lots of donations. We estimate that we have raised at least 500, and that is on top of what Newquay Zoo raised at last weekends special events. I would really like to thank The Imperial Pub in Ivybridge, Duchy College in Stoke Climsland, Mena Caravan and Camping Site in Lanivet and Mike in Treverbyn for the very needed tea and biscuits on route.'

Michelle Turton spokesperson for the zoo said 'We were in constant contact with the group everyday and are very proud of their achievement. Staff and visitors gathered at the zoo entrance to welcome them home before they had some food and drink and then headed of home for a few days of rest and recovery. A special thanks also goes to Newquay Zoo's John Wilson who played a key part in transporting tents and money every night.'

'We are over the moon with the public response to the ShellShock Campaign and if anyone would still like to make a donation please contact us here at the zoo on 01637 878347'
