The Situation
This stone built fisherman's cottage dating back several centuries is situated on opposite sides of Lansallos Street in the heart of the old part of Polperro village just a few yards from the ancient picturesque harbour. Polperro's variety of dining opportunities and character pubs are all within a short stroll. The coastal path for the National Trust walks to Looe (4.5 miles) in one direction and Bodinnick (for the ferry to Fowey - 8 miles) in the other, are also very close by.

The ground floor features a kitchen/dining area which backs onto the river and a lounge at the front of the house. The kitchen area features a custom built kitchen with Belfast sink, beech worktops, electric cooker, fridge, dishwasher , microwave and washer/dryer.

The dining area features a pine dining table with 8 chairs, a woodburning stove and a mini music system with CD/cassette/radio.

In the lounge there is an open fireplace, teletext television with remote control and video recorder. There is a double futon sofa bed and a single fully sprung sofa bed.

Owing to the age of the property the ceilings, particularly on the ground floor are much lower than in modern properties.

Stairs lead from the lounge to the first floor where you will find a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom, a twin bedroom and a fully equipped shower-room.

The double bedroom at the rear of the house backs onto the river and has a five foot wide double bed. There is a colour TV with remote control. A hair dryer is provided. The en-suite bathroom has a white suite with chrome fittings comprising a cast iron bath, wash basin and toilet . There is also an electric towel rail and wall mounted fan heater.

There is a pretty twin bedded room at the front of the house.

The luxury shower room has a large fully tiled shower cubicle with mains shower which gives ample pressure, toilet, wash basin, electric towel rail and wall mounted fan heater.

From the first floor a second flight of stairs leads up to another double room equipped with a five foot pine bed and remote control colour TV. This room has a vaulted ceiling giving a very spacious feel.

The cottage also has a roof terrace which is reached by ladder through a trap door on the first floor at the back of the house. There is a wooden bench and table and additional canvas chairs which can be taken up to the terrace. On sunny days this is a real sun-trap.

GENERAL

POLHAVEN is tastefully furnished and decorated with a combination modern and antique furniture and features stripped floorboards, exposed beams, and white painted Cornish stone walls.

Heating is provided by electric storage heaters (Polperro has no gas) the cost of which is included in the price.

All other electricity is provided by means of £1 coin meter.

Convector heaters are also provided for additional heat if necessary.

Duvets, pillows and bedlinen are provided .

You can provide your own towels. Or we can arrange towels (for use in the house only- not beach) for an additional charge. Please ask.

It is possible to park outside Polhaven to unload/load. There is one reserved Parking space provided a few minutes away. Additional spaces are usually available for a small additional charge. If you need an extra space please enquire when booking.

Local attractions:

There are plenty of things to do Locally, and the whole of Cornwall with its spectacular coastline, magnificent scenery and beaches is within comfortable motoring distance. A short walk from the cottage is Porfell Animal Land , with many exotic animals.

Looe remains one of the busiest fishing ports in Cornwall, and offers safe sandy beaches and quaint whitewashed buildings, cobbled lanes and good restaurants. Coarse fishing, shark fishing, golf, riding and watersports can all be found nearby.

The new acclaimed Eden Project is only 15 minutes away, where the majestic rainforests, the Mediterranean, South Africa and California are recreated in huge covered conservatories, or Biomes, to tell the fascinating story of mankind's dependence on plants.

Goats & Sheep

The nearby small villages of Lerryn and Lanreath give a taste of country life, with welcoming inns and friendly tea rooms for the traditional Cornish Pasties and Cream Teas.

Exploring is easy! Walk the Cornish Coastal Path and find secluded little coves and beaches, or visit Fowey, Polperro and Looe (famous for shark and deep sea fishing), with their quaint narrow streets and many good restaurants.

There are numerous beautiful gardens and National Trust Houses in the area. Truro is only 35 miles and Plymouth 25 miles away, both cities provide excellent shopping facilities.
